Private hospitals sound alarm as premiums rise
A leading health insurer has warned the embattled private hospital system faces rising costs at the same time as more patients opt for day surgery over longer stays, reducing revenues.
The industry’s peak body warned of further hospital closures as losses mounted and 16 facilities have either announced plans to shut or had their declaration as a private hospital revoked since 2023.
